Cross Currents: Improvised Truths — Curtis Patterson and the Jazz of Form

November 19 • 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
A modern art gallery with wooden floors displays abstract metal sculptures on white walls and a white pedestal, all under bright ceiling lights, reminiscent of the striking installations inspired by Elemore Morgan Jr.

Join us for Improvised Truths: Curtis Patterson and the Jazz of Form, the latest iteration of Cross Currents, a series using visual art as a catalyst for interdisciplinary dialogue, as we explore how Patterson’s bronze and steel sculptures channel the improvisational language of jazz and African diasporic symbolism into visual metaphors of movement, continuity, and cross-cultural memory.

5:00 p.m. Reception
5:30 p.m. Panel Discussion

Free for museum members, UL students, faculty and staff. General public entry with museum admission.

Presented by Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities
